半年ぶりのボストンです。近くの図書館から映画を２本借りてきたので皆で観ました。 １本はアメリカ映画「Boyhood」でもう一本はフランス映画「Jean de Florette」です。時差ボケから回復していない私は最後まで観られる自信など ない中でまず「Boyhood」から。日本語で「６才のボクが大人になるまで」と題がついていてリチャード・リンクレイター監督が２０１４年に発表した作品です。監督が俳優人を１２年間撮り続けたことで話題になったそうですが、離婚した母親についた二人の幼い姉弟が母親の結婚離婚の繰り返しの中で成長していく課程を描いた作品です。自立しようと気丈に生きる母親ですが 子供の気持ちを推量ることなく生活の変化を強いる暮らしに、アメリカの生々しい現実を感じました。子供から見える大人の理不尽な言動、黙っているけど傷つき深く考えながら大人になっていく子供の姿に心が痛みました。今風の若者の話し方や、英語の字幕がついているものの素早い場面の変化についていけず、情けない思いをしながら、それでも、しっかりした作品との印象を受けました。It has been half a year since the last time I came to Boston. Yesterday, we borrowed two DVDs at the library nearby. One is "Boyhood" (2014) directed by Richard Linklater and the other one is "Jean de Florette" (1986) directed by Claude Berri. Although I hadn't recovered from the jetlag yet and I was so tired, we watched "Boyhood" first anyhow. It was filmed with the same cast over the course of 12 years. It focused on a boy who has an older sister and is raised by his mother who divorced and remarried and her kids were forced to cope with these different situations. I thought that it seems realistic in the US. Sometimes adults' behavior is unreasonable through the point of view of the kids and it hurts them deeply. It was so heartbreaking to me. Since they speak slang and I couldn't catch up with the subtitles because they changed so fast, I was frustrated all the time, but still I thought it was a good movie it left something in my heart.
